Discount Books: Law Textbooks

A law education has the highest cost for textbooks of all educational disciplines. A medical education is right up there, but much of a medical education consists of lab work, whereas a legal education is done primarily in text. On the whole, law books tend to be more specialized and more expensive than books for the humanities.

In a pre-law setting, you may need to buy even more books than if you are studying for the bar. The reason is because you will be getting a broad-based education about the law before you begin to specialize in different types of law–criminal law, malpractice law, entertainment law, whatever it may be.

Whatever you selected vocation, there are a number of staples you will have to purchase–such as a legal thesaurus and legal dictionary. You may find that you will have to buy separate books which focus on one particular case–you may study a number of different cases in one semester. This can get enormously expensive if you pay the retail price.

Law books can also be quite rare, or occur in small printings, so they can be more expensive than books for other subjects. Thankfully, some financial aid packages or law scholarships take into account the high cost of legal textbooks and include the cost with the aid package. This is not always true for other subjects.
